Common uses and benefits of Reiki

What is Reiki?
Reiki is a method of natural healing that empowers the individual to heal the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. It is not a form of massage, but rather a form of bio- energetic balancing in which a client may experience a deep sense of calm, relaxation, and inner balance.

Rebecca was trained at the Reiki School with Chris Parkes, Reiki Master in Cheshire, England. To learn more:

How does Reiki work?
Reiki (pronounced ray-kee), is a Japanese term meaning ”universal life energy”. The reiki practitioner is a channel for conducting Reiki. During the session, the patient is fully clothed while lying on a massage table or sitting comfortably in a chair. The practitioner works on or above the body by placing hands for several minutes on specific body positions to balance the energy. As the body relaxes and the mind becomes quiet, the client can focus inward and experience many different sensations and insights. The client is encouraged to share the reason for the healing session, and the practitioner listens for key elements to help focus the session.
During the session, a client may experience sensations of heat, cold, tingling, pressure, or waves of energy through the body. Reiki affects each person differently. For some, it is calming and soothing, for others, it is energizing and refreshing.

Reiki is a gentle therapy and may be more suitable than massage for a person experiencing chronic pain. It can be used with other forms of bodywork or with psychotherapy to help the body let go of emotional traumas, and to assist in reducing depression and anxiety.

Diversity among Reiki Practitioners
Most Reiki practitioners have learned other therapies that they integrate with Reiki. Some examples of therapies often blended with Reiki include: massage, Craniosacral therapy, counseling, guided imagery, meditation, hypnotherapy or intuitive guidance. The Reiki practitioner acts as a facilitator and guide while creating an environment that promotes healing. By determining your own goals, you can find the practitioner style that is best for you.

Testimonial
I came to Reiki partly out of curiosity and also a desperate need to find relief from my chronic pain. When Rebecca described how Reiki energy worked in the body, I was willing to give it a try. My emotional and mental states were not good, and I was tired of feeling unhappy. After relaxing more deeply with each session, I was able to let go of the tension stored up in my body for so many years. As the tension melted away, so did the pain and fear. Through Rebecca’s help, I feel like I can enjoy life more fully.
